Cotham House
This new house sits in a Conservation area in a Victorian Suburb of Bristol. The client was looking to build an exemplary low energy house in the garden of their original house. The new house aims to minimise embodied energy using an innovative I-stud timber frame with Warmcel recycled newspaper insulation to provide a super-insulated envelope. All windows are triple glazed and the house is ventilated using an MVHR system to reclaim heat from extracted air. The front balcony provides shading to the large front windows to reduce summer over heating whilst allowing passive solar gain in winter.
